I'm feeling rather annoyed right now. Various reasons why, so I thought I would write a blog post to try to get over the annoyance without making this a illogical rant.
1. I'm in the PUB at my school, and they have played the same EXACT song at LEAST three times now, and its rather annoying...not that the song is annoying but it is becoming annoying because of the intense over-playing.
2. I have decided that there is nothing I dislike more in Christian music than cheesiness. There are way to many happy-clappy ditties about how God is love and how He loves everyone. Now, don't get the idea that I don't believe God is love, and that I don't believe He loves everyone--these songs just fit extremely well into the "family friendly"(which means childrens' music) and when I hear them I almost shudder because to me they are almost offensive. The very idea of making something as serious as God into a happy-clappy ditty that will be over-sung and over-played to the point that it will lose its meaning completely is just maddening. The music world would be so much better I think if it lost at least half as much of the useless cheesiness. I am known I suppose to enjoy music that other people find overly serious/depressing/dark/emo/etc, and I won't deny that for a second; personally I find it much more meaningful. Please understand that I'm not trying to be self-righteous or anything like that by saying this.
3. As the Fiction Family concert in Seattle comes closer, the more I really really wish I could go. *sobs* I'm trying not to think about it...
4. Now, the ASC is playing loud rap music (rap can be OK..it depends on the rapper)...I'm leaving in 7 minutes which is a good thing.
5. I do not understand the motivation behind both woman/men wearing pants that droop significantly, it just fails to compute in my brain.

Poverty and Abortion
Poverty gets blamed for a lot of things--abortion, modern-day slavery, sickness, etc. The last two I mentioned most definitely involved with poverty; however, abortion is most definitely not.
The most common excuses I've heard for why abortion should be accepted are: the mothers don't have the money to support the children, the mothers don't want to have a child that came from rape (check this out), pregnancy is embarrassing for the mother and her family (especially if she is a minor), and the baby has mental/physical defects (you know Margaret Sanger? well check this out).
Solving poverty doesn't “solve” abortion, despite what many may
believe. Alleviating poverty and economic distress may have an impact in
lowering the abortion rate, but unless you change the minds of individuals to
reject abortion as morally acceptable, you're not going to reduce it by much, if
at all. It's a hard thing to acknowledge, but abortion can be viewed by
some as an easy, or easier way out of what many come to view as a difficult
situation. Even if a pregnant mother is on a firm financial footing,
unless she opposes the atrocity of abortion, what's to stop her from choosing to
abort her child? read the rest HERE

I love having talented friends, they make me extremely hahhy (and no that's not a typo). Someday I will make my own graphics to put on my blog and other various places...but until then! *curtsies to Sare*

people like us
I highly suggest checking out this site and reading all the stuff on it.
Faceless International
I changed the name of my blog to Life Begins At The Intersection, just so you all are aware.
I would challenge any one, and everyone to research human trafficking and modern-day slavery. I think you will find--if you haven't already--that there are a lot of things that need to be changed by ordinary people like....yeah, us.

Betrayel
Here is the problem-you are the problem, you are the politician, you are the fist. And here, right here is the abyss. Here is what they call pain, here, staring you in the face is the menace of broken spirits, souls, lips, and bones. So you look into the brightness of the sun, just so you can be blinded, and now you are "the blind leading the lied to." Over the edge, and into the abyss; scream, go ahead, no one will hear you, and when they do they won't care until you've been dead and buried for at least ten years. This here, here, right here, is what they call desperation, you hurt so bad you rip your heart out and throw it to the swine just for a second of relief. The price you pay for relief is the title of a betrayer.

Oh yeah...the title!
Yes, I know. My countdown for Fiction Family is now complete, and yes, the rumors are true, the ALBUM HAS BEEN RELEASED--and if you are un-hip like me, you haven't bought it yet. I strongly suggest that everyone who reads this should go buy the album though...even if you like being un-hip, cuz pretty soon I'm going to collapse to peer pressure and buy it myself, so you can lose your un-hipness with me (if that consoles you any).

Those who have eased into a level of comfortable enjoyment of Jon Foreman’sRead all HERE
solo projects and Watkins’ bluegrass repertoire may be caught off guard by the
duo’s progressive departure from the predictable. Those looking for Switchfoot
meets Nickel Creek will be disappointed. This is truly a profound exploration
deep into the creative wells of two tremendously inventive and forward-thinking
songwriters. Fiction Family is genius. It’s progressive without being high-brow,
laid-back but fearless.
Of course, there are not-so-nice reviews out there. So, if you want to read them you shouldn't too hard of a time finding them.
The un-hip list
Being un-cool, un-hip, etc is a sort of goal for me. I'm extremely sensitive to peer pressure in some ways, but in others I love the idea of being the exact opposite of whatever is fashionable...to be so totally not cool that people can spot it from miles away...heh heh. So I created a list of things to do so one can be considered the most "blank-ity blank un-hip person you ever knew."
1. When you see a group of people who think rap music is the absolute jam, walk over with a totally-not-rap-like-swagger and say, "Yo, I like Steve Taylor."
2. If mini skirts and tights are in,wear skirts that go past your knees instead(for girls only).
3. If curly hair is in, straigten yours (and vice versa).
4. When all your girl chums are mooning over the Jonas Brothers, insist that their singer has such a bad voice that your poor [insert pet or younger sibling here] cries when the JoBros come on the radio.
5. When your friends think Linkin Park is the best rock band out there, walk up and timidly say "I think Sufjan Stevens is inspiring" (and if they make fun of you come talk to me and I will say that I think Stevens is pretty radtastic myself)
6. When skulls and crossbones are in style, wear butterflies and ants instead.
7. If all your friends decide to wear either totally red or totally blue on election day, show up with blue pants and a red shirt...you will probably annoy both parties (you could also wear a sweatshirt that advertises one candidate, and a hat that advertises the other).
8. When hip-hop dancing is in, learn how to do Scandinavian folk dances.
9. haha, listen to Christian music and tell people you like it (if you really want to be uncool, say you like old style CCM, like Michael W. Smith...that is, if you yourself can stand it)
10. Tell people you think Bono has one of best voices in the world and then tell them to listen to "Miracle Drug".
11. Announce to the entire world that you really don't like Coldplay, and that really famous song by them is really boring! (Viva La Vida)
The saddest thing is, I shall never be totally un-hip!(at least not on the LOBH boards) I just so happen to like Anberlin.
